NDP & SI !

Condition: Stomach ache

Went for screening of NDP and Singapore Idol @ Rec room, held by The Singapore Link. Hmm.. NDP was kinda disappointing for this year. The effects were not that good, especially for far view from the top. I hardly could make out the shape of those formations. Several Caucasians and Japanese were watching the parade too, so have this mentality that NDP should be good enough to impress them and make them go, “Hey! Wow! This is really cool!!!” -grinz- Perhaps it’s because I’m away from home and thus those little things that I always have always taken for granted back in Singapore seemed so precious and dear suddenly. Remember when we were in school and teachers always made us memorize the meaning of our national anthem; learn about the unique-ness of Singapore? I wished I had taken them more seriously then, so that if anyone asked me about Singapore here, I could proudly rattle off the details like a true Singaporean. (Hmmm.. or being a true Singapore youth means…. Being bo-chap about everything except for details associated with their own self?!!!! –sweats-) Well, it’s never too late to start learning about MY OWN COUNTRY now!! Seemed kinda pathetic right?! Having lived in Singapore for 20 years now. Ahh.. Just showed how much things I have taken for granted.

After NDP, of course it’s the Singapore Idol! Man, it was hilarious!!! ^__________^ I think more than half of the people in the room were just waiting to watch S.I. Most of them had came in around the ending of NDP. Anyway, had a very good laugh(ssssss) throughout the whole show, until the point that my stomach ache afterwards. Lolz~

Location: In school

Happy National Day~!

Monday, August 09, 2004

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!!!

"we are Singapore, we are Singapore,
we will stand together, hear the lion roar~"

Ah, it's National Day today!!! And my first National Day away from Singapore. -sniff sniff- Ah, didn't realize it in the past, but how nice to be able to watch the parade every year, from the TV or at the stadium itself!!! The internet connection here sucks big time! Tried to watch the live online but the thingy is so damn choppy. (T^T)

Back in Singapore, everywhere is in red and white, deshoo? Can feel the national festival in the air right? Here, no one cares. Ah, so disappointed that there the Singapore Association didn't organize a Singaporean gathering today. At least we could at least celebrate the occasion ourselves and have fun! But weird.. instead the Malaysians are having a gathering at the recreation room today.

Somehow or rather, upon comparison, Singaporeans here are not as united as the Malaysians are. People here go about doing their own businesses, interacting with their own circle of people. On the other hand, Malaysians always have a massive gathering every now and then. The number of times I have seen Juliet and her friends chopping carrots, onions etc, doing the cooking for the "party". It's not alot, countable on both hands but compared to the Singaporeans........

Ahhh~~~~~~!!!! Really envious of them everytime I see them, a whole bunch of people cooking in our flat. (T^T)

Anyway, at least I'll be back for X'mas! When that time comes, let's enjoy the X'mas atmosphere ne! (thinking abit far off liao)

To all Singaporeans in the world: Happy National Day~!

Touched, Yet Again.

Was reading my psychology textbook when I came across this sentence – “Psychologists work on the front lines, dealing with people to affect their lives in a positive fashion.”

Honestly, I was stunned for a moment. Why do people become psychologists? When I chose to study this subject, it was just because I have more interest in this subject compared to other course (Japanese not included ^^). This noble notion never came into my mind, or rather I never did think deeply and look into the real meaning behind the job of psychologists. Everybody knows that the job of psychologists is to counsel people, learn more human behaviours etc etc.. Very superficial indeed.

When this sentence appeared before me, it’s meaning is so clear-cut and direct. Why do psychology appear in the very first place?! Besides learning about ourselves, at the same time there are hopes that the people who study psychology will be able to apply this knowledge to intervene in people’s lives and make lives better. (As stated in the textbook, this is one of the goal of Psychology.)

Ah, needless to say, I was a little touched. Alright not just a little, but a lot. And of course, I have attended a valuable lesson. For moment, besides my own interest in the subject, this gave me another reason to like Psychology even more. Maybe one day, when all the little "touched" add together, it will transform into a strong determination or a goal to becoming a psychologist which is not present at this moment.

Hopefully, I will be able to keep this meaningful notion in mind through-out my course of study and for the rest of my life. Perhaps someday, I might be able to change someone else’s life in a little positive way too.

Alright, before I can do that, it’s time for me to hit my textbooks again. (T^T) There are still so many more pages to go~~

For our Japanese lesson today, we had a special session with Japanese international students who were here for one year exchange program. For a moment, when we entered the classroom, all the Japanese students were sit-ed one seat away from each other and like looking, looking.. –sweats- Pandas in the zoo?! Not that bad actually. Lolz~~

Anyway, we all had fun today. Tried Japanese tongue twisters (can’t remember them now), and after that had one-on-one conversation with the Japanese students. We filled in the slot between them. Talk and talk and Talk in Japanese. Can feel my tongue is still twisted now. For a moment, quite cool ne -- studying Japanese here, will get to interact with Japanese students every now and then. Perhaps my Japanese will improve too?! ^_^

Jonathan’s family came to visit him. His mum’s first words to me is.. “You put on weight already right?” with a smile on her smile. >_<** Geez.. A word of caution for all~ Never tell that to a girl, especially as a greeting! -Sob sob-

Thursday, August 05, 2004

Topic of the Day: Coffee Bean! (Ka Fei Dou)
MoOd: Still hungry

*--T0o-o0T--* Have such fun yesterday! ^_^ Finally received the long-awaited nokia cable which I bought off from Yahoo Auctions. It reached my home on the day I left for Perth, so hafta ask my mum to ask it to me here. But anyway, the main topic is.. it’s sooo fun!! (^o^) Decorate my phone with my own pictures and ringtones And! Together with cable, the guy gave another cd with a lot of midis, games (hehe..) and pictures. Hmm… especially lotsa “sexy babes” pictures. –MAJ SWEATS-

Now looking straight up at me (or rather at each other, lovie-dovie-ly), is Tackey & Tsubasa!!

Chuu~ *heart*

The ringtone at the moment is err.. not decided yet. Yet to find one really nice song for me to hear when pple call me. Lolz~ Message tone had already changed to someone whistling, taken from “Look on the Bright Side of Life”. Hehe.. for all the excitement now, actually I know that I will soon get very bored of this little gadget. Oh, forgot to mention, there are a couple or rather, a lot of cartoons and movie themes midi in the cd, for example.. The Pinky and the Brain! Haha..

ところで、今朝は…. Meaning.. By the way (change of topic! ^^), this morning…
Lecture started at 8.30. It sooo early. o(@_@)o ß Shuuuu went to school as a China’s Panda Bear. –Yawnz- Feel like napping, but the time now is not right. Perhaps in the later afternoon perhaps?

ところで、(see? Shuuu is bored with her own topic too.) Just remembered only after I told SYa. This is a news that must be announced!! Hehe~~ ***(o^_^o)**

KANJANI8 WILL BE DEBUTING!!!

***(o^_^o)**

*(o^_^o)***

****(o^_^o)*

This is the moment I’d been waiting for…….years…… YOohoO~!~! The date? I forgot when, but be sure to find out again! If they do come up with a vcd like NEWS too, believe me, I’ll be the first one to dash to the nearest music store. (Haha, or rather I will ask one of my friends to do the daashing, and I will make the cheering! Lolz~) Their debut single will be the song that they performed on Music Station. For a moment, Hmmm…. Don’t tell me they are gonna for a traditional folk song genre?!?!?! Nooo..おねがいします!!! m(_ _)m (Haha.. Rowie: that’s the song of the performance I shown you the other time. Very pengz right? Lolz~)

KANJANI8 consist of:

Yoko - Hina – Subaru (Hip Hip Hooray~!) おめでとう!!!

Uchi – Ryo (They had already debuted with NEWS earlier on, so less joy for them. Hehe..)

And the remaining three.. (Gomenasai, I don’t know who are they but still, Good luck ne! ^^;)

Really really happy for Yoko, Hina and Subaru ne! It’s really is a long awaited moment for them. ^__________^

2nd week of Semester 2

Tuesday, August 03, 2004

MoOd: Lazy

Been in a lazy mood to write my blog. Hmmm.. Suspect it is the novelty wearing off (again).

Tutorials are starting this week. I wonder what kind of people will be in the same tutorials this time. Will I see some familiar faces?

Workload seems to be less for this semester (keyword: seems), according to the study/work schedule that we are given. Hopefully this will be true. But of course, the percentage for each assignment is even higher, so the pressure to do well is high too. Ganbarimasu! Honestly, I’m looking forward to the Japanese lessons everyday, instead of my Psychology units. Although Psychology is interesting, but it is quite “dead” in a sense compared to Japanese language. Hmmm.. I wonder if my mum will kill me if I ever decide to change course. *maj sweats*
